Thursday Thirteen (TT#15)
![]() |
1. When Beautiful Death opens, Isabella has been working as Marshal of a futuristic Athens for five years, killing one thousand monsters to protect the citizens of New Olympia. 2. She was born with a genetic disease, Alpha Thalassemia, and would have died without her father’s constant experimental research. Unfortunately, even after he miraculously cured her at aged six, he never stopped his experiments. She grew up in a research laboratory. 3. Her father gave her a butterfly pin on her sixth birthday that she treasured. When the virus pandemic broke out (she was fourteen), she gave the pin to her father as he left to research vaccines. She never saw him again–until Beautiful Death starts. 4. Her mother died in the pandemic. Abandoned by her father and freed from the research lab for the first time in her life, she and her sister, Amelia survived on the streets for two years. 5. When she was sixteen, an alien–Hades, also known as Philip of Macedon–fed on her and nearly killed her. 6. Her best friend is Icarus. He runs a unique clothing shop called On Death’s Wings and uses her as his personal billboard. His “Death” themed clothes are famous throughout New Olympia thanks to her. 7. Hercules is her second in command and has an atrocious sense of humor. He’s always betting with Marshals of other Cities. Something involving her fearsome reputation, and whether Councilor Perikles will faint or worse…. 8. She has an apartment in PI Tower in Athens. 9. Growing up in a research lab, she didn’t know that other kids weren’t taught weaponry and the easiest, cleanest ways to kill. 10. Her father controlled everything she ate. She grew up eating a genetically-altered vegetarian diet. 11. When Beautiful Death opens, she hasn’t been Outside in five years. 12. She killed the first time when she was 16. 13. Always fighting to survive, she has never surrendered in her life. |

I am intrigued by Isabella Thanatos. Would love to learn more! I came to your site b/c my background is Greek and the word DEATH caught my eye. Love that Icarus is in the rag trade. I’m new to this meme and am so glad I joined. Until next Thursday, XINE

You guys won’t be disappointed. I guarantee it. The book more than lives up to its promise. Now, here’s hoping some brilliant agent sees the same and just happens to find the editor that sees it, too!
