Hell’s Kitchen is Back!
One of my favorite shows, Hell’s Kitchen with Gordon Ramsay, is back! We watched the premiere of season 3 last night and were not disappointed. We haunt the BBC channel for Gordon’s Kitchen Nightmares, but it’s only on like once a month or so. We didn’t care for his “F Word” show, although I’d watch it if I couldn’t find anything else on.
But Hell’s Kitchen is Ramsay at his worst, and I love it.
My favorite contestant so far is Julia, the short order cook. All of the others were so mean to her. They wouldn’t let her do anything in the kitchen. They ridiculed her because of her job at the Waffle House. While they proceeded to stink up the entire kitchen. Finally, they let her cook the quail eggs so they could get some appetizers out of the kitchen (after over an hour!), and she did great.
If there’s any justice in the world, Julia will win it all.
Of course, this is reality TV so who knows what will happen. But some day, I’d dearly love to write such a character, from the Waffle House to her very own world-class kitchen in Vegas.
On the writing front, I got my 1K last night in TFW, finished the dream sequence from hell, and started the long, hard ride to the Wall.

When I toured the Hyundai factory here last year, they said one of their best employees had been a cook at Waffle House for 17 years. They valued the skills doing that job ensured she brought to the table — memory, ability to handle many things at once, the ability to show up regularly and stick with a job.
Too many people underestimate the valuable skills learned and demonstrated by someone who does a lower paying job well possess.

I love Gordon Ramsay. I started watching it last night but stopped after he sampled their signature dishes. I don’t like any of the guys so far. I do wonder what the hell some of those people are thinking when they do their signature dishes.

I’ve always heard about how good this show is. I’ll have to keep my eyes open for it.

We watch Hell’s Kitchen, too, and Ramsey did not disappoint last night.
I thought Julia was amazing, too — I was *so* hoping that she’d be able to cook the eggs to perfection. I thought the vote off was spot on.

I agree, Jean. The people on the show treated her like dirt, and she was one of the most competent!
Rene, I giggled all the way through the signature dish portion. Ramsay doesn’t suger coat anything, does he? *giggles*
Christine, definitely keep an eye out for it. Ramsay is tough, and treats people terrible, so it’s not for the faint of heart. But it’s hilarious, too.
Nancy, I did too. Get those two smug girls off!!
Thanks, Meryl!! Hell’s Kitchen is one of our favorite shows.
