Iced

I’m setting this up the night before in case we don’t have power. Remember that terrible ice storm about a year ago where we lost power for a week? Well…. we’re having ice again. The monsters were out of school today (Monday) and they’ve closed schools tomorrow, too. We’ve got about 3-4 inches of sleet, frozen rain, slush frozen over and over on the ground. It’s lumpier this time — last time we had straight freezing rain.

The odd thing: the rain today came in a THUNDERSTORM. It was so odd to hear the crashing boom of thunder and know it was slicker than snot outside. Some of the breakers in the house blew and the lights flickered several times, but so far we still have power. Whether we will in the morning or not, I don’t know. It was raining again last time we took the dog outside after dinner and it’s in the twenties.

If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?

Edited: We lost power temporarily around 4:30 a.m. but were only down an hour. Praying the lines hold…

It’s finally just COLD here, and we’re getting some sleet right now. Nasty stuff.

We’ve been iced and had more sno, so you have my sympathy and empathy. It’s not quite as bad as it was last week (you know it’s bad when The Weather Channel is filming six blocks from your apartment), and I’m hoping it’s not as bad as it was for you last time either.

Good luck with the weather, and keeping your power. We’ve had really weird weather here too, we’ve got forest fires to the west and south of us, and the wind is blowing the smoke this way. Hopefully they’ll get the fires under control before they move into the swamp.

We’re having exactly the same kind of weather today, Joely, sans the thunder! Snow, ice pellets and a heavy rainfall warning are all in the forecast for the day. Everything is closed here, as a precaution. Yuck! Take care in all that mess…and chin up — we’re almost on the down side of February!

What’s with the weather lately? It’s abnormally cold everywhere. I can’t believe it’s still cold where I live. Usually the temperatures would be up in the mid 80s by now even at night.

Oh, yuck! I mean, I love weather like that, but I HATE it when the power goes out.

Thanks so much, everybody! The monsters are home again today but the temps warmed up and the thaw has begun. Just in time to get more snow Thursday night…. At this rate, they’ll be going to school into June.

We still have power — I’m just swamped at the EDJ.
