Once they finally give you a peek into the passionate, twisted secrets they’re hiding, they always fall hard and fast.  Dare to look beneath the mask and find love in the shadows on Joely’s website, Twitter and Facebook.

  1. Have you thought of writing a series that focuses on traditional fairy lore?

  2. Just finished all of the series that started with The Horse Master, and thought I would tell you that I thought your physical description of Gregar matched Jason Momoa perfectly. From a plot standpoint, I know his character in Game of Thrones matched Rhaekhar better, but for physical appearance, I saw him as the dangerous dark blood with the sensual smile and naughty sense of humor. I loved your work. I tried to send this by email, but the above address does not work.

  3. Rose, when I wrote the first draft of the Shanhasson series, I was actually thinking Gregar looked more like Adrian Paul! (2003-2004) Sorry you had difficulties with the email. That *is* my email address but you need to replace “at” with @ and “dot” with .

  4. Hi Joely, I was just wondering if you are writing or have written a second book in the Beautiful Death : Mythomorphoses series? And if you have any info of when it will be released or when you think it might be released I’d greatly appreciate it!

    1. Heather, thank you for asking! I do plan to write a followup to Beautiful Death some day – I just haven’t gotten to it over the past few years because of contractual obligations. The good/bad news is that I don’t have those obligations at this time – so my slate is wide open! Once I figure out my goals for next year, I’ll share more details about what I think I can do. Once I have concrete details, I’ll be sure to update the Coming Soon page.

  5. Joely, happy to hear things are well with you. We show-me girls have got to support each other. I backed up all of my library and made sure all my Joely Sue books are in multiple devices.

  6. Hello, I was just looking through your website looking for a new book to read. I came across the Jane Austen Space Opera series. I tried the buyer links and none of them work. They don’t seem to be avaliable. Is there anywhere else I can buy the books from. I have read several of your other books and would like to enjoy more.
    Thank You
    Meagan

    1. Meagan, Samhain (the original publisher) has gone out of business. I’m in the process of getting everything reformatted and/or resubmitted elsewhere, but until I get my rights back, I’m unable to sell any copies. Please drop me an email at joelysueburkhart@gmail.com with which book you were looking for and the format, and I’ll send you a copy until I can get everything back up.

  7. Just finished reading “Queen Takes Knights” and I am officially in love with this book. It’s so hard anymore to find any PNR book that can be this fast paced, yet still be satisfying. The story plot is totally original, but I can still see everything play out in my head. I’m really getting into this reverse harem trope also, way more than the typical menagé trope which is saying something because I definitely enjoy those also. My only disappointment is that I have to wait for the next freaking book!!!! Gah!!! I apologize I’m not a patient person. It’s October and I am still bummed I have to wait till December for the next book!!!! I would also like to see this in other libraries outside of Amazon. I would gladly pay to get this book through iBooks as well as any future books in the series.

    1. Yay, thank you for letting me know that you loved it! I’m working on print now and it will be available wider. Eventually I may go wide with the ebook too, but trying to get re-established after my publisher closed. I’ll keep you posted on where the books are available!

  8. Hi! I love your stuff & have much of it in my E library. I get your newsletter & signed up for your ARC when the offer for the new vampire series came thru. I received an acknowledgement but no subsequent link. Are they only being offered thru Amazon? Unfortunately, due to past negative experiences, I don’t deal with them.

    1. The welcome letter should come out one day later. I’ll use your email addy above and shoot you the link in case you don’t want to wait.

  9. The Treasurekeeper. I just finished this light, sexy little fairytale and really enjoyed it. I wanted to leave a review but it doesnt seem to be listed on Goodreads. I was even hoping at one point that Jonathan would turn out to be a effort by Balor to prevent Rianne from hooking up with her treasures and that there would be more books to follow. Ahh well. Any way, I love a little modern magic and I loved the way you took real Irish mythology to build on.

    1. Gail, The Treasurekeeper is part of this anthology: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/38591881-shamrocked?from_search=true. You’re right on with what I hoped to do with Rianne and her ex. I am hoping to continue expanding the series!

  10. I really need to know when the new Queen takes rook will be available on amazon uk because I’m an addict to Shara’s story

    1. LNG, I’m nearly finished! I won’t make it tomorrow unless a miracle happens, but it will be in the next few days.

      1. Thank you so much xx

  11. Can we buy paperbacks from through you or do we need to get them from Amazon?

    1. I’m hoping to be able to sell signed paperbacks this fall. But they are available on Amazon now and I can mail you a signed bookplate if you don’t want to wait.

      1. Thank you!

  12. Love the whole Vampire Queen series! The end of Queen Takes Rook has the tentative release date for Queen Takes Checkmate as end of June. Any updates for those of us on the edge of our seat waiting? (Although I definitely prefer done right over done quickly, I haven’t seen any mention, so I thought I’d ask.) Thanks again for a wonderful series!

    1. Thank you so much, Julie! I’m so glad you’re enjoying Shara and the guys! The Evil Day Job has been brutal the last few weeks, so I’m running a bit behind. But Checkmate is coming as quickly as I can turn it around! Will be a few more weeks, though I’m pushing hard for it to release sometime this month.

  13. Hey,

Eagerly awaiting the last Shara book! Please let me know the us know when it will be out!!

    1. I’m hoping this month! I’ll update with more concrete information in the next few weeks.

  14. I hope this doesn’t come across weird and… well, weird. But! Did you ever live in Sacramento? You look like someone I used to know.

    🙂
    Cathy

    1. Nope, I’ve never even been to California!

  15. I read a freebie snippet you had in January 2018 newsletter, with a character being sent to a Rhindai alien as a pet. Have you finished and published this story, or is it still a work in progress? It sounded very interesting, and I am waiting for it to be out for Kindle.

    1. I have not finished that story yet! I’ve been concentrating on Shara’s series. I’m glad you enjoyed the pet story and I do hope to finish it!

  16. I just wanted to say thank you so much for writing the ‘Their Vampire Queen’ series! I have attacked each book upon its release and have thoroughly enjoyed each one. I look forward to seeing where it goes and reading your other work.

Honestly – some of the best of this genre I have read! (And boy oh boy do I read a lot.)

    Thank you again!
    Christa

  17. I have a question about an upcoming anthology release that you’re a part of, Seduced by Myths. The titles of the individual stories aren’t listed in the description on Amazon, and it doesn’t specify whether the stories are new or re-releases. Could you let me know if your story is a new release? Thank you!

    1. Mine will be a rewrite of Beautiful Death, taking it from a straight MF romance to at least a menage if not RH. I haven’t decided completely yet.

  18. I discovered you, Joely, through Shara Isador. I loved your take on a vampire society. In a genre that is positively gutted with similar and same and blah blah blah you made it fresh and interesting as well as damned sexy.

So, because I loved Shara and have bought every one of her books I had to recommend to friends a couple of whom aren’t able to read text books anymore. The first few of the series are on audible, but thus far the remaining ones have not come up on audible. Will this be happening in the future or did you find it unprofitable??

My second question arises because I loved Shara so much I had to read some other things you have written. It’s been my experience that the good ones are good even if they are writing outsidemy own particular niches. And you proved that to be true. I adored the Connaghers, and because I did, I read the billionaires (despite usually hating the whole billionaire fad). I loved them all. Your writing in bdsm is intelligent and erotic while weaving romance into the relationship not suggesting that the romance should be or is separate from the power exchange aspects of the relationships. Anyway, again kudos. Was wondering when the other books that went out of publication with the closing of the house that previously published them might begin to be available? Do you have the rights or are they tied up with the house??

Looking forward to triune sooooo much.

Meanwhile I wish you continued success in all your endeavors. I am a genuine fan.

    1. Christina, thank you – so glad you found Shara’s books! Queen Takes Rook will be available in audio this May, and Checkmate will be in June. Triune isn’t contracted (yet) but I am hopeful if the series continues to sell well, that we’ll be able to do the same arrangement. If not, I’ll do it myself so that the series is complete.

A Jane Austen Space Opera will be available again later this year. I’ve been having the covers made, and will turn my attention to writing Lady Wyre’s last book so that the series can be released all together. That’s my plan at least!

Thank you so much! Long live House Isador!

  19. Princess of unicorns would be one would like more of. I think she would help the older queens not be so jaded. Shara shook things up and got them I’m check so to speak. Now time for some child like wonder and love in there lives. With mytey as a healer I think she and her nest would be a good place for lost young queens to find refuge and grow. Though when shit hits the fan they can call shara. Poor gwen needs her HEA with ALL her knights. I was also thinking Arthur brought to heal like leviathan but after that story nope he has to go down. Even if I love the story of Arthur. Honestly makes me a bit upset he’s evil in this take of the story.
