December Goals

I’ve got a lot of work to do in the next four months.  I’ve loosely mapped out my schedule through the end of March, and it’s going to be a crazy fun time!

First up, my number one priority was to finish expanding the short story I mentioned back in Sept. into a short novella.  I was aiming for 20K and hit it right on the nose!  This is one of the projects I worked on for NaNoWriMo.  I spent this week on revisions, and tonight I wrote a very short synopsis.  (Hey, the whole story is only 20K so it doesn’t need more than a page or two of synopsis.)  I really like this story, but we shall see.  It’s risky.

Now on my list for Dec, I need to decide what to do about the other novella I’m working on.  It’s not coming together like I want, so either I need to do more plotting or I don’t have a solid enough character.  Something.  I’ll read what I have for the next few days and make a decision about what to do.

This next week, I’ll also be working on editor revisions to Lady Doctor Wyre, and since I’ll be working in that world, I’ll make notes and plot out what I want to do for the freebie prequel I’ll be giving away in March.  Can’t get started too early on that.  I’ll also be making some notes about another possible Lady Wyre novella, which oddly enough, has some research material in common with the short novella I just finished.

I love happy coincidences.

I won’t share the rest of my to-do list right now.  It’s pretty scary.  🙂  Just know that Vicki revisions are on the horizon too.  I’m itching to get it out to a few readers to see what you think!  Dec/Jan will include lots of revisions and submissions!  Yay!  (Which is exactly why I needed to finish those projects for NaNoWriMo instead of starting a brand new one.)

So what are you hoping to work on this month?  Don’t wait until the New Year to make some goals!

  1. I’m intrigued by the novellas! Do you intend to publish them?

My December goal is to edit another 15,000 words. Not the loftiest of goals, perhaps, but a realistic one considering the perfect storm of stress my life has been lately. 😯

  2. Lianna, I intend to submit them — hopefully that will equal published! Your life has had major stress, now add holidays… I think 15K is an impressive goal!

  3. You know I’m your willing Guinea Pig

Now you’ve got me wondering what a Lady Wyre story might of in common with Golden…that’s gonna keep me up 😆

Good luck with all the revisions and submissions and everything else you’ve got on your plate. I’m gonna be lucky if I even take a crack at revisions of my NaNo piece before Christmas!

  4. :snort: that should read, “might have in common with”

  6. Yay Vicki revisions! (And should you be looking for readers… *hint*hint*)

I have a list of December goals up as well. I seriously need to get my writing back to the forefront of my schedule… it’s something I’ve been desperately missing these past couple months when I’ve been so tied up in theatre.

  7. If you’re looking for Vicky readers, I’m on board. You know I love the Connagher.

As far as December Goals, I want to get my menage, Midnight Mirage, submitted and the next one in the series written, which is a Valentine’s story.

And my blog tour for my Christmas release. Which I couldn’t me more excited about.

Quite a lot on top of regular every day life, but I’m going to give it a try.

  8. I want to finish my own novella. I had a problem that was similar to yours. I finally realized I was going off in too many directions. So I focused and it is helping.

I also have a short story I’d love to finish and get submitting next year.

  9. Sherri and Nicole, you betcha! You know you’re at the top of my list when it comes to Vicki!

Christine, you too! And wow, congrats on the upcoming release! Give me details!

Tia, sometimes it’s hard to take a short and make it bigger, but for this project, it worked really well. Good luck with your expansion!
