Giveaway: Early Copy of Lady Doctor Wyre

Tomorrow’s the day!

If you want a copy early, then this is the place.  I want to know about Regency tropes that you absolutely love.

The kooky spinister trying to save her brother from ruin.

The young debutante “ruined” by some ridiculous scandal years ago that was a misunderstanding.

The “beast” or “black duke” who might have murdered his wife….  (He usually has a name like the Devil of Blackmore.)

I think I just summarized several Amanda Quick plots!  I’m pretty sure I have a whole bookshelf of her delightful Regencies somewhere.  Or maybe you like the traditional Regencies.  Our hometown library had a huge shelf of them and I’m pretty sure I read them all.

Tell me about your favorite Regency trope or book — or simply throw your name in the hat — in comments.  At 5 PM CST  *** today *** I’ll pick a winner so you can have the book to read before its official release tomorrow.

Next Week’s Prizes

To celebrate the release of Lady Doctor Wyre on 3/29, I’m going to be giving away several fun prizes next week!

  • A free copy of Lady Doctor Wyre
  • A complete set of Romance Trading Cards — I’ve placed my design order!  Wheeee!  It might be a few more weeks before I have them in hand, but I finally settled on my photos.  Of course I’ll give a set to anyone who asks, so I guess this isn’t really a “prize” but I’m so excited I had to list it here.
  • Not one but TWO signed (via bookplate) copies of Larissa Ione’s Eternal Rider, the first book of her new Lords of Deliverance series!  She also sent some cool bookmarks!
  • TWO signed copies of Molly Burkhart’s My Gigolo!  (Releasing in trade paperback April 5th)
  • Lastly, the grand prize is a simply gorgeous steampunk heart necklace hand made by 19Moons.

The fun begins on Monday – see you then!

P.S. I’m shifting my hosting services around this weekend.  If everything goes well, you won’t have any idea that anything’s going on.  EsoSoft has been INCREDIBLE – handling everything for me so I don’t have any last-minute pulling out of my hair over a technical issue.

Help! Romance Trading Cards

For years, I’ve been wanting to create trading cards for the Shanhasson series, but I couldn’t find Gregar.  Now I’ve got that sneaky Death Rider nailed down, I’m having a hard time finding Sig.  What is it about these assassins that make them so hard to find?  (For Gregar, it was his hair and I finally gave up.  For Sig, it’s his period Regency clothing!)

I’m going to try again, though, because of Romance Trading Cards.  What a cool idea!  I don’t plan to go to the big RT/RWA conferences this year, but I’d still like to have them.  Maybe I could get some kind soul to take them for me.  But I have to find the stock photos first.

That’s where you guys come in.  Please help me find Lord Sigmund Regret.  He’s a renowned assassin throughout the galaxy for as much as his clothing and manners as his killing ability.  He’s not a very young man — late twenties or early thirties.  The kicker:  he has blond hair.  Try and find a romance hero with blond hair.  Sigh.  It’s hard!  Now add period clothing.  Or even steampunk clothing.  Anything with a cravat or a vintage look will be acceptable.  I don’t want a generic man titty photo.  I’d prefer vertical, with as much of his gorgeous clothing as possible, but I’m flexible.

The catch:  it has to be from a stock photo site where I can buy the picture and download it for my promo use.  I have a membership at iStockPhoto and I’ll probably join ShutterStock since I found Lady Wyre from the cover there.  I can’t do general internet shots of models, movies, etc.  It has to be royalty free or I can’t use it.  I’m willing to join any of the major stock sites to get the RIGHT picture.

If you find Sig for me, I’ll give you a $20 gift certificate to the online bookstore of your choice.

Happy Release Day Giveaway

My friend and accountability partner, Jenna Reynolds, is celebrating another release today from Ellora’s Cave:

Tis the Season to be Kinky

Melissa enjoys indulging in spicy roleplay scenarios with her sexy lover, Colin. Doctor, patient. Professor, student. Plumber, housewife. When Colin dresses up as Santa, Melissa is surprised by the visions of naughtiness that dance through her head. After sharing one of her more risqué roleplay fantasies, she has a pretty good idea what he has in store for her following his firm’s holiday party.

What she doesn’t know, however, is that Colin has invited one more person to take part in her racy roleplay scenario. His good-looking, lusty and very hot friend, Jake.

It’s definitely the season to be kinky.

To celebrate Christmas and her release, I’m giving away a copy!  Comment on this post to throw your name in the hat by midnight, Friday, Dec. 17th CST.  I’ll pick a winner and announce it on Sat.

Merry Kinkmas!

NaNo Day 15, 16 and the Winner

It’s been a miserable few days. I caught some kind of stomach bug that’s had me very friendly with the bathroom for the last twenty four hours.  I didn’t have a single cup of coffee all day!  *shock*  I took the day off and was too weak and tired to do much more than watch the first four episodes of Castle (that’s Sis, for getting me hooked on another show!).  I barely did any writing at all, so now I’m good and behind, not just at NaNo but at work and around the house too.  Did I mention that we’re hosting Thanksgiving next week?  *dies*

Anyway, no counts today.  I’ll try to get a fresh total for tomorow and regroup.  I’m not sure if this novella is going to work or not — the perils of starting a new work in the middle of NaNo.

Now, for the winner of the Jenna Reynolds book:

Lianna Williamson!

Lianna, please drop me an e-mail (joelysueburkhart AT gmail DOT com) with your desired format, and I’ll get your copy of Kiss of Honor.

Congrats again, Jenna, on yet another release!

NaNo Day 12 – A Break and Giveaway

I didn’t do a single thing for NaNo yesterday.  Instead, I took a quick break and read my good friend’s, Jenna Reynolds, latest Ellora’s Cave release:  Kiss of Honor.  A virgin hero, chivalry and knights, and a smoldering Beltane ritual combine to make a most enjoyable read.  If you’d like to read this book, comment on this post and tell me one of your favorite EC books.  I’ll pick one winner and buy a copy of Kiss of Honor for you in your desired format.  I’ll announce the winner on Monday.

Handbag Winner

I pulled off the names for anyone who left either an Amazon or B&N review/rating for Hurt Me So Good and dropped the names in the magic hat.  The winner of the hand-made Pride & Prejudice book handbag is:

Jennifer Mathis, the owner of this review.  Jennifer, please drop me a note with your snail mail addy to joelysueburkhart AT gmail DOT com.

If I don’t hear from Jennifer in three days, I’ll pull another name (I kept them all just in case).

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to rate or review books!
