Save An Ent – Read An Ebook Giveaway

Since Tecun arrives 8/6, I’m going to celebrate ebooks the entire month!  I’ll be doing several guest posts again throughout the blogosphere, so this entry will be updated as those links become available.

What’s up for grabs:  WINNER’S CHOICE EREADER up to $200 (USD) value.

  • Love the one-click buy at Amazon and want to upgrade to a new Kindle Fire?
  • Have you been lusting after the Nook GlowLight?
  • Or maybe the Kobo Vox is more your style.

The winner picks whichever eReader you want.  I will ship internationally, but please make sure the device you select will work in your country and that I’m allowed to ship it there without violating any customs regulations.  I do not retain names or email addresses after the giveaway closes.

How to enter:

  • Comment as many times as you want on this post through Aug 31st, midnight CST.
  • Comment as many times as you want on any of the guest posts I’m doing the month of August (I’ll add the links to this post).
  • Rate or Review The Bloodgate Warrior on any online book site and post a comment here with the link.
  • Post about this giveaway on your own blog or website and make a comment on this post with the link.  (A cool giveaway icon is coming soon!)

I’ll accumulate a spreadsheet of everyone who comments throughout the month on the above posts and use to select the winner on Sept 1st.  The winner will have 3 days to respond.  If I’m unable to reach the winner, I’ll pick a new name until I have a contact.

To get the comments started:  are you an ebook lover, a possible convert to electronic reading, or a take-my-paperback-from-my-cold-dead-hands reader?

  1. Great contest. I’ve read your Connagher’s books and have all of your others on my TBR list. I LOVED them. Can’t wait to read The Bloodgate Warrior.

  2. Fabulous contest Joely!! You know I’m going play just for the support factor, don’t enter me for an eReader.

  3. Love the giveaway title, Joely! That’s awesome! As for me, I love books. I don’t care what format, I read them all. 🙂

  4. Your blog post title is awesome. 😀 I can’t wait until The Bloodgate Warrior hits my hands. * ____ *

I’m dragging my feet on the whole ereader thing. I do read electronically, but so far nothing can beat a regular paperback in my hands.

    1. I know– I love the title!!

  5. Heh, I definitely like my book-in-hand books, but I’m in the market for an ereader. Don’t enter me in the contest, Beloved Sis – I’m already saving up!

  6. thanks for the great contest. 🙂

  7. I love a paper book. But, I got an ereader 3 years ago and I am totally hooked. Now, I always have a paper book AND an ebook going. There are some authors that I read in paper only. And, there are some authors that are ebook only.

    1. Noodles! I forgot my email address: jepebATverizonDOTnet 🙄

  8. Joely – just wanted to let you know that I pimped your contest out on my blog:

Also, I let a friend of mine know about it, and she does a weekly “linkity” post with contest info (and much more) on Fridays. So hopefully that will drive the traffic up for you! She has a much higher readership than I do, and they’re almost all readers of eBooks.

    1. Awesome – thank you so much, Nicole!

  9. I happened upon your website by doing a random search on your name in an attempt to contact you about possibly joining in a book club discussion on one of your Connagher books!

I am also avidly downloading your other titles as I write this! My iPad Kindle reader may reach its capacity and I’ll have to purchase the Kindle Fire afterall!

    1. Wen, how awesome – I’d love to join your book club discussion! I’ll email you for details. Thank you so much!

  10. I used to be a paperback groupy and I was never going to give it up. Until I discovered epubs (books I couldn’t get it paperback) and a little book a few of you might have heard of, Dear Sir, I’m Yours. Since then I’ve almost completely converted to ebooks, help in huge part to an ereader. Once I found out I could take hundreds of books with me everywhere I went, it was easy to convert. And the lack of wait time for books (buy it online, have it in under a minute) is very addictive. Not to mention being able to read anything, anywhere, and having no one know what you’re reading 😉 Now not only am an ebook addict, I recommend them or gift them to all my friends and family.

    1. That *is* a plus– having so many books at your finger tips at all times! Like if you take long trips or are just very active– perfect!

  11. […] Sue Burkhart is giving away an ereader valued at up to $200. Her post has a list of ways you can enter before September 1. (Thanks, […]

  12. I love paper books, but ebooks are oh so portable! I make the decision about whether to buy a paper book or an ebook based on a number of factors. If I plan to use the book as a gift, want to lend it out in the future, have other books in the series in paper, plan to resell it, or it’s a non-fiction book that I want to flip back through often, I tend to get it in paper. If I have the other books in the series as ebooks or I want the book that day, I tend to get ebooks. Price is a factor, too – ebooks tend to be cheaper, so those are often impulse buys. And while I have a number of free and 99 cent ebooks I haven’t started, I have plenty of bargain used paper books that are the same way. I’ve also rebought books I have in paper when they go on sale in digital form.

Right now, I probably do 80% of my reading with paper books, but much of them are ones I receive from publishers in preparing for interviewing authors. My ereading is also hampered a bit by the tininess of my iPod touch. I’d love a Kindle Fire!

    1. Yes, the portability of ebooks is definitely one of the things I like about them! If I go on a vacation or even a daily trip it would be hard to cary 2-3 novels but with an ereader…I could carry hundreds!

  14. Great contest Joely! I love paper books but for me an e-book reader have made it possible to bring a lot of reading without actually having to carry a lot of books 😀

  15. Wow! Awesome giveaway! Thank you so much!

  16. It has only been recently that I have realized that ebooks are going to be the future. Also, some stories are now being released as only ebooks. Although I like my print books I have found that ebooks are easy to use and the idea of being able to bring all these stories with you whereever you go is pretty appealing. Thanks for the fantastic giveaway!

    1. “Also, some stories are now being released as only ebooks.” YES! That is another thing that is making me want to read more ebooks– a lot of my favorite authors are starting to self publish, so there are a lot of ebooks-only coming out that I am dying to read!

  17. I’ve always been a paper back reader, but the new ereaders sound so cool I don’t think I can resist! Thank you for the amazing contest 😛

    1. It really is easy to love ebooks once you try them. I actually prefer them to paper now

  18. I love reading ebooks. There is no bookstore close to me for paperbacks. Walmart even quit selling them. So ebooks are really important to me. I can get the book when it first comes out with no wait like if I had ordered a paperback book. Thanks for the chance to win one!

  19. Great contest! I read the Connaghers’ series earlier this summer and LOVED them. The funny thing was I was reading them while I was at physical therepy. Everyone thought it was funny that I read while doing all the activites/exercises. Hey, when you got a good book you can do whatever it takes to keep reading. 😉
Thanks so much for the free download and for the awesome giveaway!

  20. Great contest Joely! Can’t wait to get my copy of The Bloodgate Warrior!

  21. Thank you for the giveaway! I just added your books to my to read pile.

  22. Congrats on your new release!! I love ebooks! 🙂
I have so many that sometimes it’s hard to keep up. 😉
    Awesome contest.

    1. Isn’t it a kind of awkward moment when you realize you bought the same book twice? Haha 🙄

      1. Totally! 😉

  23. What a great premise, sounds like a wonderful story. Can’t wait to read it. Congratulations on the new release!

  24. I like ebooks and paper books.

  25. 😎 I like both ebooks and prints. Ebooks are definitely more convenient because they don’t take up any physical space, but print books are so much easier to read through, and flip back and forth when needed.

I think there’s room for both kinds in this world 😀

    1. “I think there’s room for both kinds in this world”

Agreed! People worry that ebooks will push paperbooks away, but I don’t think that will ever happen. Computers haven’t pushed notebooks away 😉

  26. I have so become an e-book reader….I am amazed at the number of books that I can store on it.

  27. I read both ebook and print – though I’m trying to buy more ebooks now due to space issues. Plus it’s a whole lot easier haul an eReader around than a bunch of print books…lol…Thanks for the giveaway!

  28. I read both ebooks and paperbacks. No way can anytyhing push away the solid feel of a book. But I still enjoy my kindle AND my nook!!

  29. I am definitely a print fan (sorry Ents) but my husband really appreciates not having to take a separate suitcase for books when we travel! Thank you for the giveaway and good luck with the new release!

  30. Can’t wait to read this.

I have the contest up at my blog

  31. I vowed I would never have an e-reader! Well, I had to swallow my words. I now have an e-reader with several hundred books. So many books, so little time. I still love both and read just about anything I can get my hands on. My husband likes the e-reader because now my house does not look like a library with book piles everywhere!

  32. Oh my god! That’s fantastic! I’m currently reading Yours to take -thank you, btw. I’m praying to the Mayan, gods I hope they bless me to win this giveaway, I can not read your other books and I’m really sorry, but my eyes and my back will not let me!

    Thanks again!

  33. Wow, such a great giveaway! thank you!

I love paperbacks, but I mostly read ebooks :)) I have in paperback only my favorite books…

  34. What a great contest!! I’m really looking forward to learning more about The Bloodgate Warrior. Do you know how many books will be in this series?
I’ve always been a print kinda girl, I like holding the book and being able to turn to the cover when I want a glimpse at the hot bod on the cover. With the coming of ebooks, however, its much easier to carry hundreds of books in an ereader compared to trying to carry 100 print books.
I commented on all the above links. Books and Kisses link had a rafflecopter that said the contest was over. I left a comment anyway. 🙂

  35. I don’t have an ereader yet so I read mostly physical books but sometimes I read an ebook on my computer.
    Thanks for the giveaway!

  36. I LOVE the artwork! How lovely!

  37. I think I fell even more in love with you when you called this save an Ent. lol An author after my own geeky heart. 🙂 Look forward to following you on the other blogs. 🙂

    1. “I think I fell even more in love with you when you called this save an Ent”– Right???

  38. I started off as a take my paperback from my cold dead hands when my husband first showed me a Nook in a Barnes and Noble. And then he got me one for Valentine’s Day, and this was when they first come out so that wasn’t a cheap thing lol. And then I discovered with my Nook the Erotic Romance genre and now I’m very much an ebook convert. It really comes in handy because my 8 month old son doesn’t let me read physical books anymore. He’s too grabby. 🙂

  39. […] Celebrating ebooks, I’m running a “Save An Ent – Read an Ebook” Giveaway where you can win your choice of an eReader. Details are on my blog. […]

  40. […] a short while ago I mentioned Joely’s “Save An Ent” giveaway to celebrate the release of her newest eBook, The Bloodgate […]

  41. Joely! Just finished the book today, and have posted many reviews:

and my blog. Thanks for the read! It was a really fun ride.

    1. Oops. I posted the Goodreads review on an account linked to my FB account, which I didn’t want. So I’ve deleted that account, and the corrected Goodreads review is here.

  42. Of all the eReaders out there, the Nook Glow-Light just takes my breath away. I live in a community that isn’t big enough to have a book store. We do have a library but two months ago the roof of the mall where the library was located collapsed. It was a terrible tragedy, we lost two people. But we also lost our library. There are plans to reopen when a suitable location can be found but it looks like it may take anther couple of months. Sure would be nice to read some books in bed in the evening using a Nook. Great contest and I wish all the entrants the best of luck. Thanks so much for letting me enter.

    1. That is so horrible, Pat. My sympathies to the familiess who lost their loved ones.
I do hope your town gets a bookstore/library soon! I can’t imagine living without a book source 😉

      1. Hi Chelsea: Thank you for your kind words. The city is trying to move forward but it is a long process. They hope to get the library up and running at a new temporary location around the end of September or beginning of October but it will be less than half the size and at of this point in time, it is unknown if the books are salvageable. However, there are dozens of libraries that are holding donations for us until we are settled. The generosity is amazing.

  43. Absolutely, positively in love with e-books. I read more now than ever before since i can adjust the font and have as much or as little on the page as I want.
