RX Day 11

I obviously can’t count.  I missed RX Day 9 but I guess I’ll continue with this sequencing.

I got a late start today.  I always set two alarms:  one for Dark & Early; one as my failsafe in case I oversleep.  I almost missed the failsafe alarm today, too.  Or worse, some mornings I turn the failsafe off (so I don’t wake up That Man), and then accidentally fall back asleep myself.  Those are always scary close calls.  I have this dread fantasy some day I’ll wake up at like 9 a.m. and we’ll all be late for work and school.

Yes, I admit, I have a bit of a compulsive obsession when it comes to the alarm clock.  Really big days — like important interviews or catching a red-eye plane — I wake up and check the damned thing at least a dozen times.

Anywho, I didn’t get a lot done today, but I did fix that continuity issue I mentioned.  I’ve always struggled with the passage of time in a story.  Ironic, isn’t it, when I am obsessed with my own alarm clock?

At this point, I’m obviously not going to finish Revision Xibalba by the end of the month unless a miracle happens and the laundry, cooking, and housecleaning fairies finally do show up.  So I’m not sure what I’ll do about NaNoWriMo yet.  I really want to participate but I can’t put this time-sensitive project on the backburner.  I’ll think about that tomorrow I guess.

Goals tonight:

  1. Get a start on the next new scene
  2. Keep grinding away on that day sheet.

  1. Oh I know what you mean about the alarms. I really need to get back in the habit of waking up early to write again. Especially with NaNoWriMo starting soon. I think I may take some inspiration from you and try to get up early tomorrow.

  2. Hope the writing goes well tonight

  3. Hi, Joely. I’m also working on a revision, one I don’t want to put aside for NaNo. So what I’ve decided to do is set myself an editing goal roughly as challenging as 50,000 new words would be, and let myself ride the wave of NaNo enthusiasm. Okay, yes, technically, that is cheating. But it’s the only way I can see to both participate in NaNo AND not lose momentum on my re-write. Good luck!

  4. Well, I say be a ‘NaNo Rebel’ 👿 and participate anyway, even if RX isn’t done. 😀

The bit about the alarm clock is amusing, BTW. 🙂 I’m one of those people who doesn’t really need an alarm clock, although I use one anyway – I typically wake up right before it goes off. Great for getting everybody going on time, not so good for actually getting enough sleep!

  5. My problem with participating in NaNoWriMo anyway is that I can’t stand losing. Even if I say I’m only going to edit, I’ll feel guilty I’m not doing it the “right” way and will then end up killing myself trying to write new words in a new story at the same time.

Last night was a bust as far as writing and I didn’t get up this morning either. Too tired, and now I’m too grouchy because I didn’t get my writing in. On the bright side, I did get several of my Eppie entries read but I’ve only completed 30% of my reading which also needs to get done this month.
